(May 11, 2005 – Newtown, CT) Sonics & Materials, Inc. is pleased to announce that DifamaPlas is their new exclusive representative in Mexico. Located in Mexico City, DifamaPlas (Diseno Fabricacion Maquilas Plasticas, S.A. DE C.V.) is headed by Ignacio Rodriguez Soto, who has over 20 years’ experience in the ultrasonic plastics assembly industry in Mexico. DifamaPlas will be selling the complete line of Sonics plastics assembly equipment, providing enhanced service and customization abilities across Mexico, particularly in the automotive, textile, toy and cosmetic industries.

“We are actively expanding our market reach across the globe and are excited to have this opportunity to provide an increased level of solutions, service and response to our customers in Mexico,” said Robert Soloff, President. “Coupled with our European office, located in Switzerland, and our growing presence in emerging markets, such as India and China, the announcement of this new partnership signals our continued commitment to offering customers superior access and ease of doing business.”

DifamaPlas, founded in 2002, is the successor to Servicios Igros, the company that Mr. Rodriguez started in 1995, as an independent supplier of ultrasonic and vibration welding equipment and services. As a result of his hands-on experience with this type of equipment and his knowledge of the industry, Mr. Rodriguez has forged a strong relationship with Sonics, as well as with his customer base. It was a natural and seamless transition for DifamaPlas to become the exclusive representative in Mexico for Sonics.

A world leader in the field of plastics welding technology, Sonics has over 25 international distributors, with locations in Europe, Asia, Africa, South America and Australia.
