Sonics to Show new Ultrasonic Plastics Assembly Equipment at West PackJanuary 11th, 2007
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Carolyn Bown MarCom Manager 203-270-4600 ext. 315 cbown@sonics.biz BOOTH #5482 Sonics to Show New Ultrasonic Plastics Assembly Equipment and Tube Sealing System at West Pack
New X-Press Integrated Welder features built-in microprocessor-controlled generator
(January 10, 2006 - Newtown, CT USA) At West Pack, Sonics & Materials, Inc. will be showing its new X-Press 20 kHz integrated welder - an all-in-one super-rigid ultrasonic welding press with a built-in ultrasonic generator and microprocessor. The press features a single-piece rigid cast aluminum machine base and column hub, easy-access front panel pneumatic control and microprocessor keypad. The X-Press is available in 1200 watts (Model XP-1200) and 2200 watts (Model XP-2200) and welds in digital time and/or constant energy modes.
Engineered to provide maximum rigidity and user-friendly convenience in a single space-saving unit, the X-Press combines digital amplitude control, ultrasonic horn/stack frequency display, and timers (for weld, hold, delay and after burst), with a heavy-duty 3.75” steel column diameter (0.50” wall thickness), direct in-line air cylinder, and a single rail linear slide.
Other standard features include ultrasonic power load meter, upper and lower weld limit settings, and back-lit LCD display. All models include soft-start overload protection circuitry, load regulation circuitry and digital wattage display. CNC precision-machined components, quick-release column clamps and head-adjust hand wheel with counterbalance head spring are also standard. To further simplify radial horn alignment a high-efficiency snap-in converter rotates 360 degrees. A threaded positive stop provides for fine adjustment and limits the downward travel of the horn.
Next Generation GX-Series Power Supplies also on Display
Sonics & Materials, Inc. will also be presenting its powerful new GX-series microprocessor-controlled ultrasonic power supplies, featuring state-of-the-art technological advances in control, increased power levels and ease-of-use. Designed for Sonics’ 40, 20 and 15 kHz welding frequencies, these ultrasonic generators are available in 4000, 2200, 1700, 1200 and 700 watts for Sonics’ ultrasonic welding presses and actuators (both new and existing models). All GX units have automatic frequency tuning (matching the generator to the “stack” frequency) and include Sonics’ latest pioneering innovation – a convenient horn frequency display.
System keypad navigation has been completely overhauled and re-designed from previous lines to feature simple, easy-to-understand language displays and intuitive, logical command flow. The GX-series line offers maximum versatility with a range of models offering options to weld by Digital Time, Energy, and/or Distance modes. New digital amplitude control is also included on all models and amplitude setting is automatically saved in job memory. Additionally, all GX units are over 30% smaller than previous E & F Series models – a significant footprint reduction.
Ultrasonic Tube Sealers will be demonstrated
Sonics’ ultrasonic Tube Sealers are available at 20 kHz and 40 kHz and feature a rack and pinion jaw system, opposing force center position and a convenient 360o adjustable converter/booster/horn assembly. Models are available as bench top systems for operator load and unload or as power head actuators for automated in-line production. Plastic or laminated collapsible squeeze tubes can be sealed in a single step process that uses on-demand energy versus constant heat.
